The prisoners who had been heckled, jeered and attacked on their way to prison were greeted upon their return to flag waving and cheers.

The 1918 General election showed a massive majority in favour of an Irish
Republic. An independent parliament, the Dail was elected and subsequently
outlawed by Britain. Then began the War of Independence 1919-1921

This tour will visit the scenes of action that took place in Dublin in 1916.
It will visit Kilmainham jail where the leaders were executed and Arbour Hill Cemetery where they are buried.
The following day we will visit Glasnevin Cemetery where many Irish Heroes of the War of Independence, including General Michael Collins, are buried.
We finish the tour with a fascinating visit to Collins Barracks, now part of the National Museum of Ireland.

This tour is one not to be missed by those interested in this turbulent
period of Irish History.
