07 April update
We have just returned from a very succcessful trip to Gallipoli via Istanbul.
While there we visited and studied places of particular Irish interest e.g the River Clyde landings, the Irish Regiments in support at ANZAC, and the Irish at Suvla Bay.
This experience was enhanced by the presence of people on tour who had fathers and uncles who fought at Gallipoli. We layed wreaths at Helles and at Suvla in their honour in particular and in memory of all Irishmen who fought at Gallipoli.
For the record we visited from Dardanos Battery to Orhaniye Fort, from Sahindere to Gully Ravine, from ANZAC Cove to Hill 971, from Helles to Canterbury to Azmec Cemetery. In addition we visited all cemeteries and museums in between and all significant tactical features.
See also the photo section on this website to get a flavour of this 1st class tour.
We also visited ancient Troy since we were in the vicinity.
For any Australians, New Zealanders or ANZAC enthusiasts in Ireland we will remember Apr 25 this year and if you want to avail of an expert tour to Gallipoli from Dublin do not hesitate to contact us and we will arrange, lead and guide it for you.

We intend to visit the Somme, Messines and Ypres on 25 May. There are still vacancies so if you would like to join us please contact me as soon as possible.

Jan 2009
Happy New year to all.

As you may know we are now operating as military consultants to a fully bonded company who are handling all of our overseas logistics and travel arrangements etc.

2009 promises to be another eventful year with tours to Belgium, France and Turkey in covering WW1 and WW2 in addition to home tours.

A number of people have asked if we will do tours to Arnhem, Tobruk and Monte Casino. The answer is YES. But we need a
group in order to make these new tours a viable proposition i.e. cost effective.

IF YOU WANT A TOUR ORGANISED TO A PLACE WE HAVE NOT LISTED PLEASE ASK US. WE MAY BE ABLE TO ASSIST YOU. CONTACT dbuckley@anu.ie
OR PHONE 353 (0)49 9031344.

We have a devoted a section to the Mayo Peace Park. MHT was very proud to have been associated with this project. The Memorial contains the names of nearly 1,200 Mayo servicemen and women who were killed abroad in the line of duty, in whatever uniform, in the 20th Century. The memorials range from WW1 and WW2 to Vietnam. Korea etc. and Irish soldiers killed on UN Peacekeeping operations. The research that was undertaken is staggering. The erection of this Memorial is a testament to a new and open attitude to our history on this island. How correct it would be for all other counties in the Republic to follow this lead. Our previoulsy maligned soldiers and veterans are due this at least. Unfortunately, since the opening, Mayo has had another son killed in action. Marine Robert McKibben, Royal Marine Commandos from Westport, who was previously a Defence Forces Reserve NCO was killed in action in Afghanistan. May he Rest in Peace. His name will be included on the Memorial.

The construction of the Memorial did cost a lot and gratitude is extended to the many generous people who assisted. The Committee is still in need of funds to complete matters and a link is on their website to facilitate generosity .

We have also opened a book section offering a book that was compiled in association with the Memorial, Remembering Mayo's Fallen Heroes.
In addition we have an account of the ambush and follow up action in Tourmakeady, Co. Mayo in 1921. The Battle of Tourmakeady is an analyses of the action involving the South Mayo Brigade Old IRA and the RIC/Black and Tans and troops from the Border Regiment.
We also offer Sgt Maj Coughlan VC. This booklet was launched for the dedication of the Sgt Maj's grave in 2004. It is now a rare collector's item and will be of interest to historians, military and otherwise.

I hope you enjoy our new look website. And, I hope that you decide to join us on tour this year. Questions, proposals, good ideas, suggestions etc. to make our service even better are always welcome.
